Harvest 101: 7 ways to prepare for the season

As summer transitions into fall, agribusinesses everywhere are bracing themselves for the busy harvest season. This time of year requires careful planning and preparation to ensure operations run smoothly. Whether you’re a seasoned pro at creating push notifications or are new to using Bushel’s solutions, here are 7 easy steps to take today to ensure you’re ready to tackle harvest.

  1. Send eSign Contracts to Farmers – Make sending and signing contracts easier and quicker for you and your farmers by taking advantage of the eSign feature available in your customer portal! Steps on generating and sending an eSign contract can be found here.
  2. Send Push Notifications to Farmers – Keep your farmers engaged with well executed push notifications. Check out this Knowledge Base article for 6 simple steps to send a push notification. Some examples of push notifications we often see include information on market updates, new features, events, holiday, location hours, storage, FSA info, settlements, and other reminders.
  3. Ensure You’re Confident in Using the Customer Portal – Watch our short tutorial video for an overview of the customer portal.
  4. Manage the “Account Not Found” Report – When a farmer logs in to their customer portal on their mobile device, they are asked to provide their phone number. Once they do this, they receive a text message code to enter. If the farmer’s phone number is not connected with their account in your accounting system, they will then be brought to the Account Not Found screen. The Account Not Found report provides you with a list of farmers who were unable to log-in. This report should be delivered to your inbox each day.   5. Understand How to Pull a Proof of Yield Report – The Proof of Yield report is a list of loads during a specified delivery date. The purpose of the report is to prove what was delivered; other information on the report includes commodity, delivery location, delivery account(s), grade factors, and gross and net weights. You can quickly pull this report from your staff portal by following these simple instructions from our Knowledge Base.
  6. Download a PDF Copy of a Scale Ticket – Farmers can generate PDF versions of individual scale tickets in both mobile and desktop experiences. The vertical kebab menu on each scale ticket prompts users to download a PDF of that individual scale ticket. View this Knowledge Base article for details.
