Morosini to lead efforts on the growth and development of Bushel’s digital payment solutions, focusing on growing the adoption of digital payments among agribusinesses and farmers.
FARGO, N.D., September 4, 2024 – Bushel, an independently-owned software technology company focused on developing digital tools for the agricultural supply chain, announced the addition of Tony Morosini to the Bushel leadership team to further expand adoption and accelerate innovation within digital payments in agriculture.
Morosini joins Bushel as Chief Digital Payments Officer, bringing over 20 years of experience in the payments and fintech industry. Morosini will lead the growth and development of Bushel’s digital payment solutions, focusing on growing the adoption of digital payments on Bushel WalletTM* among agribusinesses and farmers. He will oversee payment operations, manage risks, and use market insights to guide product enhancements. Morosini will ensure that Bushel’s payment solutions continue to meet the evolving needs within agriculture with practical and easy-to-use functionality. His efforts will focus on expanding Bushel’s network and simplifying digital payment adoption within the industry.
Most recently, Tony served as GM and SVP of the Payments Group at P97 Networks, where he oversaw payment orchestration solutions for the oil and gas industry. Prior to that, he led Figure Payments Corporation, a blockchain BaaS provider, as President for four years. Tony also spent five years at SoFi, where he played a pivotal role in building the company’s student loan, personal loan, and SoFi Money banking products, eventually serving as the head of that business unit. His career began with a decade at Visa, where he developed solutions for member banks in areas such as disputes, commercial cards, issuer processing, and mobile offerings.
“Agriculture has a distinctive network where relationships and money movement are deeply intertwined. I’m passionate about building this network by simplifying transactions, making it easier for agribusinesses and farmers to do business along the supply chain,” Morosini said.
As the agriculture industry increasingly embraces digital transformation, Bushel’s 2024 State of the Farm Report highlights a 12% decrease in paper check payments to farmers, with growing adoption of ACH and digital wallet payments. However, over 70% of grain settlements are still made by paper check, despite ongoing security concerns with mailed payments raised by the U.S. Postal Office.
“Tony’s expertise in banking and digital payments will be invaluable as we continue to push massive adoption of secure and efficient payment rails in agriculture,” said Jake Joraanstad, CEO of Bushel. “His leadership will help us ensure that our payment solutions are not just innovative but also incredibly practical and user-friendly for both agribusinesses and farmers.”
Bushel’s network plays a crucial role in the agricultural payments ecosystem, connecting over 3,500 grain and ag retail facilities and powering more than 50% of U.S. and Canadian grain origination. With this extensive reach, Bushel facilitates the movement of money across the agricultural supply chain, ensuring secure, efficient transactions for over 100,000 farmers and agribusinesses. This network not only streamlines operations but also strengthens the relationships between farmers and grain buyers, making it easier to do business and supporting the growth of the industry.
Bushel was recently awarded “AgTech Finance Platform of the Year” in the fifth annual AgTech Breakthrough Awards program conducted by AgTech Breakthrough, a leading market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global agricultural and food technology markets today.
