Bushel’s Ethos on Data is focused on four principles.
Privacy by Design and Default — Bushel’s data policy, at its core, embodies the principle of Privacy by Design and Default. It is a built-in design and default for security and privacy, as opposed to a bolt-on design.
Data Monetization Policy— Bushel does not sell identifiable customer data. Period. We don’t believe in that. Instead, we’ll monitor, review, and report findings in order to elevate knowledge for the good of the industry and the protection of individual business interests of our customers.
Data Permission Policy — Bushel allows users to give us permission to share data with other technology providers. No identifiable data is ever shared without appropriate permission.
Data Aggregation Policy — Bushel may analyze, mine, and share data with customers on an aggregated, anonymous level. The goal of this data sharing is to help our customers gain insights into industry level trends as a form of benchmarking. Again, no identifiable data is ever shared.
We take security seriously.
Bushel adheres to a strict set of policies designed to protect your data and keep our infrastructure and environment secure. Our security program includes:
Physical security Protection of devices, hardware, software, personnel
Application security Ensuring that applications are developed and operated securely
Infrastructure security Ensuring that operations at all technology levels are secured
Company-wide training Security awareness through mandatory training for all employees
The customer and Bushel have access to non-aggregated data. Non-aggregated data include information that can identify a person. Data owners have full access to their data in the cloud. Bushel will only use data that the owner of the data permits Bushel to use. Bushel deletes identifiable data when a customer ends their relationship with Bushel.
Data is stored on servers in secure facilities that meet or exceed industry standards. Bushel takes reasonable and customary security measures to protect the privacy and security of your data. In the event of a data breach, natural disaster, or other unforeseen event that causes your data to be deleted or compromised, we will notify you.
Platform Usage Data
Bushel will only use anonymous platform usage data to analyze how customers prioritize features of the Bushel Platform. This analysis informs Bushel on how to improve the features of its platform over time and zero-in on new features that will receive priority in our release schedule and roadmap. We collect platform usage statistics, performance metrics, etc. to help with continued development, security, reliability, and other platform improvements. None of this data is identifiable to a specific person or customer.
Data Sharing with Other Technology Providers
Bushel may also share data with other technology providers through links established through Bushel and such third parties. Bushel will not share data with other technology providers or third parties without first obtaining the data owner’s consent. Bushel is continually working to provide users with options to transfer and share data among different companies and data platforms. When data is transferred or shared with a third party, all use is subject to that third party’s policies and contract terms. Likewise, Bushel may allow the ability to upload data directly from third party technology providers. Any uploads from third parties are subject to Bushel’s policies and contract terms.
Adding Value to the Data
Bushel will analyze and interpret the data in order to publish reports which benefit the owners of the data. We do not allow our customers’ data to be used for the purposes of promotion or selling of products or services. We may use aggregated, non-identifiable data to deliver industry insights to customers and end users. We can provide value to the entire industry through our findings, with more in-depth content and findings reserved for our customers. This is controlled by technical architecture and contractual obligations. Any data published will be anonymized and de-identified.
Data Ethical Roadmap
We regularly review our overall data set using ethical and non-discriminatory lenses to ensure our data is not susceptible to intentional or unintentional misuse.
