Improving the grain marketing experience with Bushel Trade™

When it comes to grain marketing, it can be a complicated process to get growers and grain facilities on the same page. There may be missed opportunities for offers and extra bushels at the farm gate.

When Duffy Grain began using Bushel Trade, it saw many of those challenges disappear and instant grower adoption into their white-labeled digital tools. Duffy Grain is located in southern Wisconsin with two locations and four million bushels of grain storage.

“We were astonished by just how quickly growers found and utilized the tool. We hadn’t even announced the update to our app, and multiple growers were already submitting offers,” Pat Duffy, President of Duffy Grain said. “The ease and streamline of Bushel Trade reduces our risk and provides a better experience for our growers. It helps provide an advantage as a facility to be that easy to do business with.”

Because Bushel Trade is embedded into the Bushel Mobile experience, it’s a natural experience to make an offer right as a grower is viewing cash bid prices. Bushel Trade gives the elevator control over transparency and functionality in their grain sales. Making digital interaction easier than ever before, connecting growers and their grain buyers through their mobile device seamlessly back into their trading platform.

Bushel Trade has partnered and integrated with CQG’s infrastructure for hedge management. CQG has long been known as one of the best and broadest technology providers for the futures trading world. The relationship between CQG and Bushel goes beyond futures technology. They are working in tandem to come up with the best cash grain solutions for the grain industry.

“Bushel has shown us through the last two years that they are a leader in creating value for the grain industry,” Ryan Maroney,  CEO of CQG said. “They have a strong vision of how technology can transform grain marketing and how together we can power a better process for both growers and grain merchandisers. Their insights help us see ways CQG can better support the industry.”

Companies of all sizes see the value of using Bushel Trade with their growers. Scoular is the most recent to sign on. It will be embedded within the ScoularView digital experience for growers. Scoular has 79 locations throughout the United States.

“As we continue to evolve our digital experience for our producers, we want to empower them to take action that’s simple and in the moment. We still get to talk to our producers, but now we can focus on more strategic conversations that are key to their success.” – Melissa Norem, Enterprise Director of Origination

Past attempts by companies to digitize the grain marketing processes have resulted in hit or miss responses from all parties. The goal of Bushel Trade has always been to gain more than productivity for the originators, but to also increase margins for the elevator. As a result of Bushel’s seamless technology builds, we also add significant value and transparency to the growers as well. Bushel’s technologies aim to solve some of the industry’s biggest challenges and bring the grain supply chain together through connected, standardized and properly-permissioned data.
